With a total area of 2,542 km2, Sindhupalchok District is a part of Bagmati Province and one of Nepal's seventy-seven districts (981 sq mi). Chautara is the district's administrative centre. In 2006, 336,478 residents lived in 79 village planning councils, compared to 287,798 in 2011. Despite being one of the least developed, this district has the potential to become one of the best tourism destinations in the country, attracting both domestic and foreign visitors. Langtang National Park, Langtang Himal, Jugal Himal, Panch Pokhari, Tato Pani, and Gaurati Bhimeswar are among the district's tourist attractions.
